LISBON — On Saturday, October 29, National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, sponsored by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), will be held in communities across America, including Columbiana County, to raise awareness of the dangers of prescription drugs. abuse.

Locally, area residents will have the opportunity to drop off their unused, unwanted or expired medicines from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at two locations in East Liverpool and Salem, as follows:

• East Liverpool City Hospital – Main Entrance, 425 W. Fifth Street

• SRMC Professional Services Building (across from Salem Regional Medical Center), 2094 E. State St.

How to participate

-Residents in the area will stay in their cars and hand over unwanted drugs to local law enforcement officers, who will be the only ones to handle the drugs. No identification request will be requested.

• Unwanted capsules or tablets can be kept in their original container or removed from the original container.

• If an original container is discarded, try to remove any personally identifying information from the prescription label.

This day-long drug drive effort is sponsored by the Columbiana County Drug Task Force (330-424-0309), local law enforcement jurisdictions, the Columbiana County (330-424-0272), the Columbiana County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services. Residents of Columbiana County can also visit the following locations, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to dispose of unwanted medications in a locked medication drop box at these police departments, no questions asked:

Salem Police Department: 231 S. Broadway Ave. in Salem

St. Clair Township Police Department: 15442 Pugh Road, Suite 1 in Kolkata (accessible Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
