As the second anniversary of the global pandemic approaches, countless Americans are refusing to be vaccinated, but still trying to fight Covid-19 by taking ivermectin.
This despite the fact that there is no scientific evidence that the drug, an antiparasitic drug more commonly used on horses and cattle, is effective in combating the deadly virus.
What’s more, the FDA, the National Institutes of Health, the World Health Organization, even the drug’s maker, Merck, have all strongly advised against taking ivermectin to fight Covid.
Yet people continue to do so, either by buying the drug wholesale from farm produce and animal supply stores or by looking for lesser-reputable doctors to prescribe the drug.
As a result, several pharmacies began to refuse to fill prescriptions for ivermectin.
One of these incidents was recently captured in a viral video, shared by Patriot takes on their Twitter page.
After asking to speak to the pharmacist on duty, the man who filmed the video told the pharmacist upon arrival that he had a prescription for ivermectin.
But the pharmacist was quick to respond that they were not filling prescriptions for ivermectin for Covid.
After declining the pharmacist’s request to stop filming him, the customer told the pharmacist that a “registered doctor” had prescribed ivermectin.
But the pharmacist remained firm in his position:
“We will not be refilling Ivermectin for Covid.”
Not wanting to take a no for an answer, the customer told the pharmacist it was against the law for him not to fill his prescription, which the pharmacist quickly corrected.
A pharmacist has the right to refuse to fill any prescription he considers dangerous for the client.
After a back and forth over legality, the pharmacist told the customer he could call the pharmacy board or anyone he wanted to complain about, but the stubborn customer still refused to believe what the pharmacist was telling him.
The client then began to question this authority, let alone subtly despise the work of the pharmacist.
“You don’t have the right to put yourself between a patient and a doctor.”
“You are not a doctor, you are a pharmacist.”
The pharmacist then told the increasingly unruly client that ivermectin was not authorized for Covid, to which the client incorrectly replied:
“It’s FDA approved sir.”
While ivermectin has been approved by the FDA to treat parasitic infections, in doses much lower than what can be bought off the shelf, the pharmacist quickly corrected the customer that the FDA had not approved it. ivermectin for Covid.
The customer then responded to the pharmacist saying that ivermectin does not need to be approved by the FDA, as it is an “off-label” product, which means that a treatment is used for. anything other than its FDA approved use.
After telling the pharmacist that he should “know better”, the pharmacist replied that the customer had to “research” what “off-label” meant just before the video was cut.
The video was met with a variety of loathing and amusement, with very little sympathy for the man behind the camera.
Several made fun of the ignorant customer for asking a doctor to fill a prescription, while ivermectin can be purchased at farm and animal supply stores.
Others have expressed their exhaustion and people like this man seem to think they know more than experienced medical professionals.
Most applauded the pharmacist for the calm with which he treated the man and for refusing to fill a prescription for a drug that could have endangered him.
One woman even recounted how a pharmacist came to her aid by refusing to fill a prescription.
Many Twitter users also took the opportunity to condemn the customer’s behavior, expressing disappointment that so many front-line workers have to deal with people like him on a regular basis.
And as expected, a few couldn’t help but point out that in addition to being full of misinformation, the man behind the camera could have gotten a highly effective vaccine approved by the United States for free. FDA, rather than spending money on ivermectin.
While we don’t know how the meeting ended after the video was cut, it is quite possible that the pharmacist offered a vaccine to this unruly client.
Although it is also quite possible that the customer refused due to incorrect information.
