Vitamin producer Blackmores has simplified its product offering around the Blackmores name with the sale of its China-oriented Global Therapeutics business to McPherson’s Limited for $ 27 million.

McPherson’s, a once well-known Australian manufacturer with roots dating back to 1860, has rebuilt itself in the health, wellness and beauty fields and takes Global’s Fusion Health and Oriental Botanicals brands (pictured).

These products are based on traditional Chinese medicines with contemporary herbal remedies.

For Blackmores, the sale is in line with announced plans to divest non-core brands.

CEO Alastair Symington said: “Fusion Health and Oriental Botanicals are wonderful brands that play an important role in the health and wellness routine of many Australians.

“Although we have decided that Global Therapeutics is no longer one of our strategic priorities, it will now have the opportunity to reach its true potential with McPherson’s.”

McPherson’s brands today include Manicare, Lady Jayne, Dr. LeWinn’s, A’kin, Swisspers, Multix Moosehead and Maseur.

During its long history as a manufacturer, McPherson’s owned well-known brands including Wiltshire, McPherson’s Press, Grosvenor and Rodd tableware CPS Housewares and Crown Glassware.
